I haven't posted in... FOREVER.
Lately, however, I (along with everyone else) have been thinking about the election. I can honestly say that I have never before CARED so much about it... perhaps it's the liberal arts education in me.
I am honestly very disappointed that Bush won. A few basic reasons why:
1. Good-bye gay rights
It has been made clear that homosexual couples will never be recognized for civil union under the Bush administration. Why? Main arguments are (a) it threatens family values, and (b) it is not allowed in the church. First of all, if anyone is looking at family values, last time I checked, the divorce rate was 50%. I think straight people are doing a fine job of screwing up family values - I don't think the homosexual couples could do any worse. Second of all, the church has NOTHING to do with a CIVIL union. IT IS A LEGAL ISSUE. Church and state are separate in America, remember? AAAGGGH!
2. Good bye feminist movement
Also, it has been made clear that a woman's right to choose will be severly limited, if not taken away altogether. The main argument against abortion comes from the church, once again. PEOPLE! The church and state are SEPARATE! NOT everyone in the United States is a Catholic or Protestant or Christian in general. You can't make laws based on religion when we are TOLERANT of other religions!! And, furthermore, the right to choose is NOT ABOUT ABORTION. It is about the ability for a woman to make HER OWN choices about her body. Next thing you know, women won't be able to go on birth control because it interferes with the will of God.
3. GOPs unite
The government in the next four years will be completely dominated by one party. THAT is not democracy, that's totalitarianism. It actually frightens me.
4. Bush himself
Because of poor money management and budgeting... we are in the BIGGEST DEFECIT in our entire history (Clinton left office with a surplus, no less). Also, no social security by 2022. 18 years from now. I will not even get the CHANCE for social security. A country we have no business with is a battleground because of a petty revenge scheme. The rest of the world can't possibly like ANY American, now that we re-elected Bush.
All in all. *sigh*

An overview of my 21st
And, the time came for me to join the ranks of many who have gone before me - to bars, restaurants, and clubs - to celebrate the 21st birthday. Here is a somewhat brief overview of everything that occurred on that felicitous day :)
I had my first legal beer at 12am on Friday, in the green room of the theatre, after O'Malley's March played. O'Malley's March was EXCELLENT. When I came I was a little grumpy and pissy, but by the end I was getting my groove on gladly at the front of the stage. After seeing that man in his muscle shirt, I'm fairly certain Mayor O'Malley could kick any other mayor's ass. Anyway. So we (Jon, Herb & his wife, Pecoraro, Fratto and I) were in the green room having beers and Mayor O'Malley comes in and plops down and starts chatting with Herb about random political stuff. So that was very cool, and I definitely can say that I had my first beer with the Mayor of Baltimore.
And then the night progressed... We went down to the garden apartments and hung out for a little bit - and two of the band members from O'Malley's March were with us. Tiny got everyone in the apartment to sing happy birthday to me, which was very nice :) Didn't stay out too, too late since I was exhausted from getting up at 5.45 in the morning.
When I got back to my room, the door was all decorated by sisterhood... it was very neat, and I was actually surprised :)
After I got up the next day and showered etc., Jon and I went to the MVA to get my license changed. We stopped quickly at the mall and then I spent the afternoon just chillin with the girls at Fall Fest (which was conveniently on my birthday).
I went out to dinner at Johannson's with my parents, Sandy, Theresa, & Thomas; Jon, Jon's mom, Jessie, & Clint. Mom brought my cake, which I was very happy with (and consequently, I believe I will have that for breakfast), and I got presents from everyone, which I was very thankful for. I had only two drinks there, a hurricane and a malibu & OJ, but they were both good. Dinner itself was excellent, and I think everyone had a good time and it was very special for me :)
After I got back I was repeatedly surprised with gifts that people had gotten for me. Just blown away. Thank you everyone over and over because it was really touching.
We then went out and partied at the gig Jon threw for me. Which was excellent. I think everyone had a good time. And I was psyched that Katie and Allyson could make it there :) Yay for friends from home! The entire time was just a blast with the music going and getting my drink on, hehe.
Let's see. Then the party cleared out at around 12ish because campus safety was on their way... said goodbyes to Katie and Ally, then went to find another place to continue the partying. Chilled at the theatre again for a little bit, then went down to the Garden Apartments and wound up having some craazy fun until like 3 the morning.
And now, it's all over and I have to get back to the grindstone with everything that I need to do for tomorrow ^_^ Oy.

Grr, unpacking, grr
I am absolutely having a rough time unpacking. Mostly because I have no place to put things. I don't have an "under bed" spot to put stuff, and so I need to put things in containers. But the containers already have things in them... but not necessarily the things I want in them.
That paragraph is, of course, wittily (sp?) summed up in the following sentence:
Sounds so Philosophic.
Anyway. So I'm having a hard time at it. Argh. Must... keep... going... [meh...]

Oh my gaaah...
It just figures that I would move into my room, which faces the back of the building, to get away from the noise of the construction on the side of the building, and to have them be digging/filling a hole RIGHT OUTSIDE MY WINDOW. With BIG, LOUD machinery. Argh!

Impressive
I totally woke up this morning at 9.15 on my own, no alarm, no noise. I'm rather impressed with myself. Perhaps I'll even get something done. Either that, or I will just sit around and be bored the entire day. Damn you, lazy instincts! I also hate that little inconvenience of going to meals when I have the entire day to myself... I wish I could get Glar delivered (not that I love glar or anything, but I don't have to pay for it). Actually, I think it's possible to get Glar "to go" if you need to, but it seems complicated. Plus, it's only the fact that my lazy butt doesn't want to walk allll the way over there, stand in line with annoying campers, get crappy food, eat half of it, and come back. I honestly haven't even been enjoying the Glar desserts as much as usual (?!). So things are odd.
I'm going to be here straight up through school... so that's going to be a little weird, too. I'm also going to be working right up and into the school year. This is going to suck because I WILL HAVE HAD NO VACATION. Now, I have days off, but, still... not quite the same. *sigh* Oh, well.

Fun times!
Last night was very fun!
Alli convinced me to go down to B-more with her to see Gavin DeGraw (at which time I had no idea who he was) and the O's game. Well, I had no idea that Gavin sang three songs that I've heard frequently. It was an *awesome* concert, too. He is really great live. It sounds like the recording, it's so good.
We met up with Jess & Jess there, and they and Alli got stuff signed. Then it started to rain as we went in for the $5 baseball game. But we got free corny-ass O's-colored camo-print bucket hats. So it was good, hehe.
So we were there only about an hour and half or so. Then we decided to go back to the 'minster and eat at Applebee's. We also decided to ride back with Jess, instead of taking the metro. So yeah, then we had to find her car... first we went in one parking garage which wasn't the right one, and then we found the right one and couldn't figure out how to get in. We also happened to be a block away from The Block, too. I was kinda amused.
So then we got back, and Alli and I shared spinach artichoke dip, and I had this smashing chocolate dessert. Mmmm. The whole day wound up costing my 20 bucks all in all (for tickets to the game, food at the game, and food at Applebee's - the concert was free!!), which I don't think is too, too bad.
And then I got back and watched Food Network till late in the night. Lol.

Kerry vs. Bush
I saw this comic in the City Paper; I have to say that it's very amusing. I can't say that I'm a staunch Kerry supporter, but I definately can say that I'm not a Bush supporter. Got the image from here.
Megapost
I really didn't want to come back here on monday to go to work on Tuesday. I think it's one of the first times that I have *wanted* to stay home. I really, really just wanted to stay a little longer... maybe a couple more days. It's just so *nice* to be at home... good food, nice bed, loving parents... And I was just not looking forward to going back to work again. Not because it's "hard" or anything like that... it's just not.. interesting.
The Phun Philled Phi Mu Weekend (my own name ^_^) was nice, though. I arrived on Thursday, about 3.00, only to realize that the chorale was meeting at 3.30. So I rushed down and registered, got tons of papers, and rehearsed songs to be sung for dinner that night. When I signed up, I totally thought we'd be singing traditional Phi Mu songs, but we instead mostly sung Phi Mu words to other songs. Which is fun, too :)
So, that started the Convention of with a bang. Nothing slowed down from there! We went from meetings to break to meetings to meals to workshops to break to meals! Sometimes it felt as though we didn't have time to breathe! But it was SO neat to look around and know that *everyone* - every, single, person - in that room was a Phi Mu. And, honestly, the whole of Phi Mu is kinda like our chapter of it - very varied in personality.
There were a lot of awards presented during Convention, spread out over all of the meals (lunches & dinners), which is a good thing, because last year (apparently) all of the awards were given out during the Carnation Banquet. I can't even imagine how long and boring that would be. However, in any case it was exciting because Phi Alpha won a COB certificate for successfully COBing a lot of members during the biennium (or something like that).
It was a really inspiring experience over all, and I also learned a few things which could be helpful. Convention got me pumped up over Phi Mu all over again. Whooo!
The Carnation Banquet was a *lot* of fun! The chorale sung some *great* songs, and the meal was really good. We also got Convention charms as favors [aside: One of my favorite things were the favors we got at every meal]. However the BEST EVER part of the evening was winning the Lila May Chapman Scholarship Award. TOTALLY jaw-dropping for me. I had actually tuned out the speaker for a second, when all of a sudden I *thought* I heard her say "Phi Alpha" ... I said "what?!" totally not believing, then I heard "McDaniel College" and I started walking up - I had this HUGE ASS smile on my face, and there on the screen it said "Phi Alpha Chapter" as the winner! When I received the GIANT platter from Kathy Williams, she asked if I was shocked - I nodded. I think it was rather apparent by the look on my face. I was SO excited! It's sad, but I TOTALLY wasn't expecting an Honorable Mention in an award, much less to WIN one! Nonetheless, I'm very proud of our chapter :)

Totally.
I *totally* won at bingo tonight! Twice! This is the first time I've ever won at bingo (at least bingo being played for real prizes!!). I got a laundry kit [basket, yay!; detergent; stain-remover; TEN DOLLARS IN QUARTERS; softener sheets], and a $25 gift card to Target. VERY excited.
The rain was nice tonight, I almost wish I could have frolicked around in it. I could go for some frolicking.
I need, need, NEED to get a new white dress for Convention. Either that, or i'll have to wear my white suit, because my white dress that I normally wear makes me look, oh, about TWELVE.
Some old news: Jon's sister got engaged last saturday. Very exciting :)
Some new news: I am *totally* rocking at Sonic 2. Hehe.

Meh.
Jon's making me go to the gym tonight. Well "making" is a strong word. Mostly, he's encouraging me to, considering his entire family is going and he and Jason signed me up for a week guest pass. Plus, it'll be the only time that I'd get to see him till Thursday. I'm very intimidated. I don't like gyms, they make me feel stupid. 'Cause I have absolutely *no* idea what I'm doing. I'd much rather go for a jog or play tennis or raquetball. Much more in my line of things. Speaking of, I've been thinking of getting the key to the raquetball court and playing (very loser-like) by myself, just for the exercise. Too bad Jon is not fond of racket sports. I've had my tennis racket, tennis balls, two racquetball rackets and racquetballs up here for 2 years now, and have yet to play. Oy.
But yeah, I'm really not looking forward to this whole gym thing. Not my style at all.

I went to the grocery store to buy some essentials and some non-essentials. I was pulled into the flowers section and wound up buying some irises, alstomeria (sp?) lilies, and dragonflowers. I think the arrangement turned out rather nicely.. I might get some more flowers and fill in the bottom some more. I love the colors, though.

Feeling good never felt so great ^_^
The past couple of days have been really good to me.
Yesterday, I was having a "good me" day. I looked and felt really good. For some reason, my hair turned out wonderfully - I had it up, and it wound up having this wonderfully classic look about it, not to mention that I actually wore jewelry and perfume (L'Interdit for the first time!), which is rare for me. I felt very confident, just because I liked how I looked.
The Boys State boys amuse me. They're very polite and gentlemanly (most of the time.. boys will be boys!), which I'm very happy about - I'm glad *someone* is teaching young men nowadays how to treat a lady. I think they may have even gotten the hang of marching. They were kind of shaky with that at first. Anyway, yesterday I came to dinner the same time as the State boys were, and one of their leaders/chaperones definitely made them stop as I cut in line for my silverwear, and then brought me to the front of the line for food. Definitely made me feel special... hehe.
Today, I was *completely* psyched when Glar had its Iced Tea machine fixed!! Hey.. it's the little things :)
A lady definitely walked in today that had a chihuahua strapped to her in front, baby-style. It was adorable. I guess no one can really stop you if it's strapped to ya. Hehe.
Nothing is more fun than having glimmery peach fingernails, then bubblegum-bright, sparkly toenails ^_^ hehe.

Hehe
I added an all-important 21st birthday countdown.
Campus Safety (Aka sampus cafety) gave me a parking ticket for parking in the faculty/staff parking lot. Um. Currently, I *am* staff of the college. I'm heading over now to wrangle this out.
edit (1.44): The director still is out of the office, even though we were told he'd be back in "about an hour" about an hour ago. Now, they say he'll be there at about 2.30, "give or take". Right. I'm calling at three. Of course, he also said that "we don't really keep track of tickets over the summer. They're more like a warning." So what about the lecture on "parking regs are in effect 24/7 365 days a year" to Lizzie? Hm.

La la la...
I found it really cool that one of the girls in the suite was listening to the Doves. They're a great band.
Yesterday I found a 4-leaf clover on the way to work. It really brightened my day :)
This morning, Jon took me out to lunch at Harry's. It was very yummy, and really made my day a whole lot better.
Work wasn't bad... finished The Dante Club. Good book. Now, I'm going to amuse myself somehow or another.

Reflections
Today I got treated by mom to a surprise and several nice things. The surprise was that she was coming up to bring mail and come see me. Unfortunately, my room was a disaster area... there should have been yellow tape around the whole thing ^_^ Ironically, I was going to clean my room anyhow, but the fact that my mom called an hour before she was to be here certainly made things move a bit faster than they normally would have. It actually (comparatively) looks rather nice right now. I have floor space! Perhaps the rug will find its home soon, then.
Mom treated me to lunch and some shopping; it was really nice :) I got several things that I've been wanting- perfume (L'Interdit), a new summer purse (Nine West, and it actually should do quite nicely well into fall), sunglasses (finally! They're glamorous, too); and a pair of black thong sandals considering I seem to have misplaced mine somehow. Of course, the perfume cost as much as the other three combined... oh well. It's going to be my "evening" perfume anyway. I'm excited :)
Worked from 3-11 today, which was nice... heh.. heh. Well, it's a good pay period at least. And, as per usual, I really didn't *do* anything so, really, who's to complain?

Meep!
I'm slowly getting more settled in my room. I wish there was more to do at night though.. sometimes I feel a bit lost and isolated. Meh... oh well.
Today is such a beautiful day; I think I may go for a run after I get off work.
I wish I could hang out with Jon a little bit today, considering it's his day off.
Just a few tidbits.

*sigh*
I had a "classic" slow moment today. Oh yes, it even involved a joke. It involved a joke where, about ten seconds later, I burst out laughing as I finally *get* the joke. Of course, Jason and Jon (who were on either side of me) found this incredibly amusing. Actually, though, even I had to laugh just because it was so classic. ...You probably had to be there.
Anyways, this moment occured during the previews of Shrek II - excellent movie, I highly recommend it. I especially enjoyed the paradied movie scenes, and how can you NOT love Puss in Boots?? Hehe... all in all, fun times.
Then, I had a long night (5-11) of uneventful work. But it's okay because there were FREE InStyles on the Free Books shelf in Decker, so I read one and then tore it all up with scissors (to get cool images, of course!!). I like things that are free... actually though, the Free Books shelf has been very helpful. It yielded several [old] teeny-bopper short novels that at least pass the time (although being brainless) at work. One of them was called "Nothing Ever Happens Here" ... I told Alli that the title was a good one for the Info Desk ;) I left it in one of the drawers when I was done with it ^_^ I like my job, though. The people around me are [generally] pleasant and good natured; and really, how often do you get a job where you [seriously] get paid to do nothing - as well as having your housing and food taken care of?? ...Exactly. Well, not to mention that I'm closer to Jon this way, too, which is nice. [Which reminds me, I need to see my parents sometime! I honestly do miss them]
La la la. And all that jazz.

Evening time
Went to the O's game tonight with the seniors because it was student night... ooooh, what a game!! Angels were leading by 9, and we rallied and tied in the ninth inning, but they scored in the tenth (tear!). It was a very good time :)
I was very sad because I was looking forward to coming home and spending some time with my baby before going to bed, but I got a voicemail while we were on the metro (b-more metro is skeetchhyy) that he went home because there wasn't anything to do around here so he went home because he's sick anyway. Of course, I had just been looking forward to seeing him when I got it. Oy.
Never got around to cleaning up my room. Oh well. Now, I just want to veg a bit before going to bed.

I'm done!!
That's right. I finished up my last exam this morning (it started at 8.30!!) and then typed up and turned in my notes on the presentations for the same class.
Now, I'm RELAXING. Without any stress.
But after I finish this post, I think I'm going to start cleaning up/clearing out my room, since no one is in the suite so they won't mind if I put all my crap out there O:)
Poor Jon got a fever last night.
I am thinking that I'll update my bloggity goodness since Blogger decided to *wham!* release a new version. I was so pleased with this template, too...
As I've mentioned earlier, I'll be working here at college over the summer... it ought to be, well, interesting on one side, and boring on the other. Interesting because a couple of the girls will be working here too, and because I hope to get a lot of things done that I normally wouldn't (i.e. craft projects). Boring because, well, I'm working as a building manager/information desk person for a school that's *out* for the summer, and I'll be working every day. Ohh well. I'm looking forward to it because it'll be relaxing, but I'll still be getting paid for doing stuff. I just hope to enjoy myself this summer ^_^

Small update on my life
1) I got the job here at school! I'm very excited. I'm going to be one of three building managers for Decker over the summer, starting the monday after finals (which hopefully means senior week will still be fun!) ... this means, of course, that I'll be living up here over the summer.
2) School is done for... at least classes are done. I have a paper due tomorrow (meeeh!), two finals, and my piano jury. Kinda wish I didn't have to do that stuff. I have "junior"itis I guess.
3) Jon lavaliered me during the Alpha Sig Black & White formal on Apr 30th. This is a rather nice honor - I can wear their fraternity letters now. It is also almost a pre-engagement type of gesture. Mom understands.
4) Jon did my laundry for me a couple of days ago, and I really, really, appreciate it. He is such a wonderful boyfriend! But this means that I no longer have a massive pile of clothes in my closet and on my floor. It also means that I have clean sheets, which I enjoy.
Um, that seems pretty good for me, although major shout-outs go to all my girls in Phi Mu! I heart you guys sooo much.

What tree am I?
I found this to be scarily accurate:
Sep 03 to Sep 12 - Weeping Willow Tree
Weeping Willow (the Melancholy) - likes to be stress free, loves family life, full of hopes and dreams, attractive, very empathetic, loves anything beautiful, musically inclined, loves to travel to exotic places, restless, capricious, honest, can be influenced but is not easy to live with when pressured, sometimes demanding, good intuition, suffers in love until they find that one loyal, steadfast partner; loves to make others laugh.
...not to mention that weeping willows have always been my favorite tree. Woooaaah...

Spring Break
It's been a busy Spring Break. Not much rest or anything... South Carolina - reveling in warmth! - from Saturday to Wednesday. Oh, the weather was like a comfy blanket! Unfortunately, it was rather boring.
Today, went to Bank of America to see about a summer job - unfortunately, they only have summer openings on the Eastern Shore. Somehow, I doubt I would be able to afford an apartment and save money at the same time. I'm going to check out other banks in the area, and also talk to my cousins - I really just want a nice, normal, 9-5 job. I'm also going to see about working at school over the summer - DEFINITELY would enjoy that :)
This afternoon, Jon came down to see me and to FINALLY take me to see LOTR 3... He surprised me by coming down an hour earlier than expected :) It's always so good to see him after we've been apart for a while. It's going to be hard after I graduate, and he's in France. Oh well - I'll write him lots of letters... I've always wanted to write love letters :)
LOTR was really good... correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there supposed to be more battles in the Shire after the Hobbits came back and realized that a tryannical rule had been set in place? I read the trilogy last summer, so my memory may be tricking me. Of course, that would have probably made the movie about 4.5 hours long vs. 3.5 hours.
Tomorrow we're going to see Stephen Lynch at the Recher Theatre in Towson - and eating dinner somewhere over there, too. It should be fun :) I'm spending the night at his house, and after that - only one day till we're back at school and spending the majority of our time together, again! :P
As a side note, it will be very fun to turn 21. I can't wait to sip cocktails at a restaurant :D Cosmos, margaritas (on the rocks), and all sorts of fruity concoctions... hee hee hee! And of course, for Jon's birthday I'm going to make it a beer extravaganza for him. "Kegs" and eggs for breakfast (really, just bottles, not a keg, but it rhymes...), and all sorts of fun all day :) YEAH for our birthdays being on Saturday this year!
Have I mentioned that I absolutely love the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman? I love the intermingling of science, philosophical issues, and fantasy that he threads through the stories. The kind of thing "uber" christians would have banned. No offense. I'm rereading the trilogy over break... well, I hope to reread it, I've finished book I, and now I'm in the middle of book II... I think I'll go to bed now and finish it so I can start the third, where everything comes together in such an interesting manner, it's wonderful...

29 February 2004
It smells like a cold day at the Island. I can almost smell the bay... the cars are the motor boats rushing by; the tin boats racing to the best fishing spots... The breeze propels the flouncy, white sails on the sailboats in the distance, whisking them across the water, mirroring the billowing clouds that race in the sky.
I miss it.
(I dreamt about the Island, but it was a dark, dark dream. One that I didn't enjoy at all. Stormy and tumultuous - frightening, really)

Yay for valentines day...
Two weeks late ^_^ Jon and I finally got to go out! We got dressed to the nines, and went to this wonderful little restaurant called Mealey's. I ate the better part of a four-course meal- ooohhh tummy was so full, but it was all sooo good. Baked brie in puff pastry (covered in honey and almonds!) as an appetizer (it came with grapes, too, yum!), then a salad with the house dressing - a honey vinagrette I believe - followed by the main course: Surf and turf, a filet mignon and a crab cake, with baked potato and green beans. The filet was so tender and yummy, and the crab cake had huge pieces of crab in it. They both tasted excellent! And, of course, I had to have dessert (I made Jon promise! :-P), so I had some Chocolate Rum cake, which honestly didn't taste like it had any rum flavoring in it, but still tasted oh so rich and wonderful (I also had a latte, which was excellent! And it came with a crystallized sugar stick!). It was such a yummy evening. We were one of the last ones to leave the restaurant; we were there for about 2 hours ^_^ It was nice just to relax and converse with my love, and eat some REALLY good food. Yummmmmmy!
On another note- it smells like spring! The breeze coming in my window is so fresh and new. It smells full of expectation! I'm really looking forward to warm weather :)
My room is clean - I cleaned it for yesterday - but only superficially. IE: stuff is stuffed under my bed, in drawers, in the closet, and anywhere else I can hide things... O:) I need to declutter when spring break comes (ie: take useless stuff home). We'll see if that happens. Maybe Jon will help...

Bid Day and weekend
YAY! Tomorrow (er, today) is Bid Day! We get to go out and sing our hearts out and get our new girls :) Unfortunately, exec then has to leave for Leadership Conference that evening! So we miss out on Bid Day weekend. Ohhh well. BUT it's going to be SO much fun!! I'm so excited...
We are the Phi Mus, we are the best/We are the girls that top all the rest!
I'm kinda hungry right now... dunno why.
The semester has been going really great.
I want my digicam back... Jon has it b/c they took pictures of their potentials with it :
I need to pack and clean my room (again!).
I gave Jon his v-day gift today! He loved it! :) It was a Stephen Lynch CD. Hehehehe!
Okay, no real content to this post... just inane babbling. Sometimes I feel like I would be a complete nerd if I tried to be poetic. So that's why I'm not. Oh well.

Yay!
My boy finally came home yesterday... I was cleaning my room and he walked in (I was so surprised- he had said that he'd call when he landed at the airport and I hadn't received a call yet)... definitely ran (the two feet) and jumped on him and hugged him. My heart lifted right at that moment, to see, hear, and smell him. Oh, how nice it was!
He insisted on giving me my valentine's day gift last night- I didn't want him to, because I didn't have much to give him (yet), but he finally convinced me. Can I tell you how surprised I was when (animal activists don't read this :P) he gave me a beautiful fur coat! It's calf length... very nice... I'm going to wear it tomorrow night when we go out and celebrate Valentine's Day. Hee hee! Not quite sure where to put it, though. It can't be touching other fabric... From what I know from mom, though, I think I could get a paper cover for it. We'll see. Oh, and I gave him a mug from starbucks that says 'Amore.' on it, with a cute heart handle. Mom gave me a pink one, and a red one for me to give to him.
The weather has been so topsy-turvy lately. I never thought I'd say this, but I could use some warmer weather ... get to wear sexy outfits without freeeeezing my patookus off. (although I have my fur now to keep me warm! ;P)
I feel so much more on top of things when my room is clean... I feel organized and able. I'm going to try and keep it that way, just for my own, mental, sake. Sometimes I wonder if I'm borderline o/c, or if I'm just anal. Who knows...

Hmm.
Well.
I'm not really sure what to say. I'm getting a little tired... and tomorrow is Valentine's Day. I don't understand why some people really hate V-day. I mean, even when I didn't have a sig. other, I just found it fun to get stuff from my parents and do stuff for them (one year, I dressed up like cupid. It was funny. no, you can't see pictures). The only thing that bums me out is that Jon is up in Boston, and I am down here. Makes getting together on V-day a little difficult... I'm going to open his card when I wake up, and also the cards from my parents... my mom gave me a box of chocolates, too :)
I need to do laundry. Slowly the supply of underwear is dwindling.
I hope I'm not as bored tomorrow night as I was this past night. Meh.
I am the most uninteresting person ever.

Righto. Long time, no post!
Amazing how going to classes, meetings, and playing Sonic can cut down on your blogging time.
I'm doing well in my classes; Culture of Lat. America seems like it will be very time consuming. Lot's of reading and outside class activities to do... why?? Meh. World o' Light and Color is interesting - I'm such a nerd! I like physics types of stuff, plus the class just flies by. Information Age was a little hard to get going in (it's my online class), but I think I'm getting the swing of things.
Cardio Kick... wow, that's an intense class. I'm sore today from monday, and now this mornings class, too! But I am having fun, and I'm glad I'm working out. I kinda wished that the class lasted the whole semester, because I think it would be good for me. Maybe I'll check into something like that at the YMCA or something (note: I probably won't). Of course, by the time it's over, It should be warming up enough so that I can go running again... I really rather enjoy running. Oooh! And I'm excited because today in class we did an ab exercise that doesn't hurt my back! I was so psyched. So now I'll be able to work on my abs some more :) Wow, don't I sound like a fitness freak...
I have all my class stuff together, but everything else is kind of slipping out. I need to sit down and really fill out my calendar to the fullest with all my Phi Mu meetings (etc) and other stuff. Meh! I missed selling choc. roses today because I plumb forgot - but I promise to be there the next 4 days that I'm doing it! I just need to start USING the planner that I write everything in. SLOWLY I'm becoming more organized with my life. So far it's taken 10 years just to find these methods of organization. Damn.

Wow i haven't updated in a while.
Well, since my last posting, things have been very fun :) We celebrated over the weekend before going back to school, then Mother nature decided she liked us and gave us the first two days of school off! :D Today we had 2 hours late, so I only had to go to one class, yippee! The snow was a lot of fun, and I got some very good pictures (below are some of them). I am really excited for this semester; I think it is because I am taking a rather light load, so I will have more time to devote to individual classes and my Treasurer position. Light & Color (my class today) seems to be interesting, but we have to write a reasearch essay. Hmm.
Somehow, I jammed my ring finger on my left hand.. well, at least it feels like it. The first joint hurts and doesn't like to be bent. Meh.
I need to start putting information into my datebook.
Pictures! Yay! These were all taken yesterday..
I *heart* snow..

Grr!
I am very ... not exactly "pissed off" ... but definitely peeved. My Ad project, yes, the one where I was in a group of four, and did nearly all the work on..? Well, because I arrived after he did, the freaking Hungarian (sorry, nothing personal against hungarians..) got to essentially say that he would be the "contact" if our teacher needed someone to present it to the college. WHAT THE F...?! I was so peeved. At the end, I made sure to let him know that I at least did the graphics and stuff for the presentation- I really just wanted to add: "oh, along with most everything else!" ... but the hungarian was still in the freaking room. Why does he always spoil everything -.- GRR!!! Now if I try to do something, it would make me seem childish. If the hungarian had left instead of sticking around, I probably would have said that it would mean a lot to me to be the contact/make the presentation. I knew a lot about it.. etc etc. But NO! Gah!
Meh... must stop ranting... (but I'm still rather incensed about the whole deal >.<)

Thursday Three
1. What astro star sign are you?
Virgo
2. Do you favour your star sign traits?
Sometimes I think I do- especially since I'm becoming more and more OCD about things ^_^ and, well, I'm honestly rather picky about things...
3. Do you read and/or believe the astrological star signs?
Hehe, I have an astrological calendar (which has really cool pictures). I like to read them (I always read horoscopes if I see them), but I don't really believe them about 'futuristic' things. Personality wise... well, I'm always looking for something to define my personality.
Thursday Three
Wanted to start doing a few of these ... I noticed that there are a few "photo" memes- I might try that out. It could be fun :)

For some reason, our bathroom smells like B.O. Everytime I walk in, I feel like i've accidently stumbled into some sweaty linebacker's armpit. I can't understand why it smells that way- you think with the amount of chemicals they use in that place (which has made the entire floor smell like a hazardous waste zone, but has done nothing to the smell in the bathroom) would kill it. But, noooo. Hmph.
We had our presentation for Ad class today. My group of misfits did all right- the one guy had some really bad public speaking habits, though. He could talk... he just couldn't STAY IN ONE PLACE. He would do this little dance, one step forward, other foot follows; shift weight, shift weight; one step back, other foot follows; shift weight, shift weight... AAAGGGHHH! I really just wanted to go over, and grab him by the shoulders, or tell him to STAND STILL. My section went all right- I think I might have spoken a little to quickly, and I didn't elaborate on some of the things I wanted to elaborate on... but it's all good.
Every group had it's strong and weak points, but I think group no. 1 might win because they had a pretty neat Radio ad that they had made themselves. I liked our slogan the best though - "Shared Experience, Personal Success!" The others were .. um .. "Come ordinary, Leave extraordinary" (group 1, not too bad), "Come see" (i think? group 2, sort of okay), and group 1 had another one along the lines of "An education too expensive... not to have" or something like that.
Feeling pretty good right now. Maybe I'll do something productive...

Oh So Proud
I feel so proud, so happy, and so lucky everytime I look at my ring. It makes me smile...
ad project- worked on it today with the other group members. Almost had an anheurism for a while, there. Then I finally got control and everything became presentable, for the most part. Ogilvy was right-advertising should not be done in committees! Two people, max, would have been better. But then the presentation day would have been 2 hours instead of 1 hour. Eep! But it's done. And we will be presenting first. So yeah...
I can't believe real classes start next week... not that I have a heavy load or anything. But still. It should be interesting.

Hee hee!
Got the ring sized- and now it's on the right finger :) I'm so giddy.
My ad project is giving me a headache- mostly because (a) I don't want to do all the work because I don't want to control the entire thing (b) I don't really trust the other people's ideas/opinions (c) we never really get anything done and (d) because it's annoying. Erg.
I'll be chillin out tonight most likely- sitting in front of the tv watching Comedy Central with the boy. Hee hee. Perhaps eating my Safeway Tiramisu ice cream.

I promised :)
So, my wonderful Chico gave me a really special gift two days ago...! I was very excited.
..A promise ring! It's not sized yet, we will be going to the jewelers on monday to drop it off (and to get my ring size) and it will be back on Tuesday. I adore it- and him, of course!
*gooey happy sigh*
I love you, Chico!

Happiness
I'm really psyched. Somehow, my computer managed to miraculously fix itself. Well, not quite fix itself, by itself, but I'm not quite sure what I did to fix it, either. I, first, wanted to reinstall Windows, but after realizing that I couldn't do that.. I decided to try to uninstall/reinstall some of the programs that were being funky. I first did PSP 7, mostly because I was dying over not being able to use it, then I did my CD Creator program... then, I (for some unknown, psychic reason) decided to try and open Money, which had also been acting up. BAM! It opened! No error messages or anything. Then, I tried to open my Kodak program... same thing! Like I said, I don't know what I did, but I'm glad I did it ^_^
It's snowing outside... well, kind of, right now... but at least we got some form of accumulation this time (rather than the dusting we got a couple of days ago!). It's pretty and I like it :)
It seems weird, because Jon wasn't here at all this evening (he went home after he got off work, and I wasn't around to see him) so I am feeling quite at a loss right now.
I received a special gift from Chico, yesterday :) More on that tomorrow.

My Computer is a POS
*sigh* Not quite sure what exactly happened, but now if I try to open certain (most of my) programs, a really annoying KERNEL32 error will come up, then after you click OK, another message comes up saying that I do not have access to that program and I should contact my system administrator.. erm, right. I think it is a result of Boot record stuff. As I was Anti-Virusing, a message popped up about a change to the boot record, and was it expected (save), unexpected (delete), or to do nothing. I clicked expected for some unknown reason- and I think that may be the root of all this computer evilness. Bah. Humbug.
Trying to clean up the room more and get rid of some of the clutter. No class today, which made me happy :)
LAST NIGHT WAS SO MUCH FUN! A group of us went out for Kara's 21st birthday- first to Ruby Tuesday, then to Baja. It was a blast. We ate good food and got our groove thang on! Definitely a fun group. Definitely need to do that more often.
I'm upset because computer evilness is preventing me from opening Paint Shop Pro, and therefore from doing anything productive with my website. Grr. Oh yeah, and my Cd-writing program doesn't work. Grr. Grrrr!

I have lots of things to do
I forgot about my website. I should work on that; I suppose it isn't a top priority, however... I also need to clean my room, and work on some other stuff for stuff ;) I should probably organize my desk, and work on Advertising, and maybe try to contact the Marketing Dept at school. I should get my butt in gear instead of wasting time on blogging, but, yeah, I'm a lazy bum.
Ad agency was a lot of fun! I learned a lot about the business and the ad creation process. It was really neat. I talked to the COO (who conducted the "session") afterwards, and he thought that going to grad school would be a good idea for me, because I want to refine my skills and whatnot. He said that if I got into VCU's program (and graduated) that I would definitely be a valued employee. So... that's exciting. Chico was a little unhappy with the prospect of my going to Grad school in VA, and it bums me out as well, but I don't even know if I'm going to get in much less be able to go right now. We'll wait and see.
Now I think I will go and be productive. :-P

Booyah
Meep! I got my digicam back yesterday! I'm very excited. Now I can take pictures of all sorts of useless, inane things ^_^
Yesterday had field trip to ad agency, cool, more info later, probably. I will be heading to my ad class soon. Hopefully we will get out a little early...
It seems the school has decided to concentrate it's (ADD) efforts toward the parking lot/building project next to my dorm. Too bad it's not summer and there aren't hot construction worker guys running around shirtless. Um, not that I care, but I'm sure other people would appreciate it. It's not too loud, and I appreciate that.

Chilly willy
It is warmer than usual outside - usual being around 28 degrees for the past couple of days - and cooler than usual in my room. 30 deg outside, 70 deg inside - about 4 deg lower than normal. I don't know why, but when the inside temp falls to about 72/70, my hands always get really cold. Like today, I first noticed that my hands were cold, then I looked at my thermometer and noticed the temp. Hmm.
I have given up on the idea that I will run in this weather. Maybe if it was in the high thirties/forties I would - but this weather is just simply too cold. It's hard enough for me to walk through it, much less run. I'll just wait for Cardio Kick.
I think I may actually clean my room and unpack today.
The common room smells absolutely awful. Very sulfuric - it smells like the stuff you use to clean silver. Blech.
I am very close to finishing up the revamp for my website :)

Hehe
So I was chillin in my room, looking at my computer (actually, checking out VCU's ad program) and stuff, then when I was done, I noticed my weather watcher was blinking, so I click on it, and it says possible snow showers. Excited at the prospect for snow, I go to click on the map to see where the snow was, and my computer froze. So I restarted it and turned around - BAM! it's snowing outside. I was amused. It was horizontal snow, too. Hehe. Right now it's not snowing as hard (bummer), but it looks like someone poured powdered sugar over the landscape.
Birds just flew by!! (I'm sorry if I seem excited, there is a distinct lack of birds on campus. And a very large population of squirrels, which may contribute to the lack of birds)
Although the parking lot next to my dorm is blocked off (as well as part of the road that goes behind my dorm), and there is a bobcat, a torn up sidewalk, missing trees, and a construction trailer, I have yet to see any "work" being done. I saw two men walking by with shovels yesterday, but they just went into the trailer. I don't understand why the roadway is blocked off if they're not even doing any work... although, I am not so very sad, since it is right outside my window and I would not like to be woken up at insane hours by workmen. Campus workers have the "waking you up early" thing down pat. No no, mowing, leaf/snow blowers, ice scraper things - all must be done as early as possible. Oy.
(aw, the snow cloud is going away. I wonder if there's another one.)
(I'm not dependent on computers. Hmph)

Back at school!
Ahhh. Happy to be back at school. I still need to clean up the room a little bit (ie, unpack). Had my first Advertising class today, it should be pretty interesting. Also went to the Ad Agency... it looks very promising. I'm hoping I have the chance to have an internship there (or somewhere). I wish I could get a paid one, though... oh well.
I like Jan terms, I think more semesters should be like Jan term. It would be nice :)
Waiting for Chico to get back from work... Should probably clean up, but I don't feel like it. I just want to laze about. Heh.

Grr.
At this moment, I am pissed at Blogger. Oh yes. I had a magnificent entry, covering such topics as Mona Lisa Smile, why I like it and why the Critic does not, a life crisis concerning the future, and the new year and resolutions. 5 paragraphs long. All lost because Blogger decided to go caput. Grr.
I'm not really a fan of New Years resolutions, but I came up with a few to look back upon and see if I made any progress.
>No dieting (In my mind, dieting is stupid), but I need to exercise more. I'll be doing Cardio Kick at the beginning of next Semester, so that will be a good start. I am vaguely entertaining the notion of picking up some under-armour type clothing to ease winter running. Perhaps.
>Being nicer to my family. They deserve it! I am so thankful for what they've done - my parents really are the coolest parents on earth.
>Getting my life in order - I've been doing a little of that already, so I'll try to do it a little more.
Actually doing things for my future instead of getting stuck in a rut of "shoulda, coulda, wouldas." I shall enlist Chico to help me with this.. he's good at that sort of thing.
>Living each day to the fullest :)
To sum up my lost post:
I liked Mona Lisa Smile for the same reasons the Critic did not like it. It catered to my emotions! Even though it was not the best movie on earth, it certainly is a feel-good movie to see on a lark. Why don't they spend their time debunking HORRIBLE movies like Stuck On You instead of the middle-of-the-ground ones. That would have been a helpful critique.
Recently I have been really worried about my future - I am frightened of not being able to get a job, of not being able to do something that will give me some sort of success and a comfortable income. Just enough to be able to live with everything I need, and have some things that I want - a grand piano, maybe some horseback riding lessons, dsl/cable internet ;) and mostly knowing that I do not have to constantly worry/gripe about money. That would be ideal.
